Knives by Takeshi Saji are among the most distinctive examples of Japanese bladesmithing. They are forged in Echizen, a region with more than 700 years of hammer forged knife tradition, where durability and hand craftsmanship have always been essential.

A third generation blacksmith, Takeshi Saji was certified as a Traditional Master Craftsman Dentō Kōgeishi in 1992. His knives are recognized for their powerful forged shapes, high blade hardness, and strong artisanal presence, with each piece clearly showing the hand of the maker.

Saji frequently works with demanding steels such as VG 10, R2 SG2, Shirogami, and Aogami Super. One of his most recognizable achievements is Rainbow Damascus, where layers of steel are combined with copper, brass, and bronze to create striking, multicolored patterns.
