Ikkyu Shin Nagura #2000 is a versatile Japanese whetstone designed to bridge the gap between medium grit sharpening stones and finishing stones. Combining premium synthetic abrasives with natural Mikawa Nagura powder, it delivers a smooth sharpening experience, rich abrasive mud, and performance inspired by traditional Japanese natural stones.
The #2000 grit is ideal for regular knife maintenance and refining the edge after coarser sharpening. It leaves a noticeably smoother and more refined edge than a typical #1000 stone while maintaining excellent cutting speed and efficiency.
During sharpening, the stone produces a rich abrasive mud that improves feedback and helps refine the cutting edge. The blade glides smoothly across the surface, creating a sharpening experience often associated with high quality natural stones.
As a Splash & Go whetstone, it requires no prolonged soaking. Simply add water and begin sharpening. Its structure helps resist clogging and maintains consistent performance throughout the sharpening process.
The stone performs exceptionally well on both carbon and stainless steels, including Shirogami, Aogami, VG10, Ginsan, SG2/R2, and ZDP-189.
