Ikkyu Shin Nagura #6000 is a premium Japanese finishing whetstone designed to deliver exceptional sharpness and refined edge quality. Combining modern synthetic abrasives with natural Mikawa Nagura powder, it offers rich abrasive mud, excellent feedback, and a sharpening experience inspired by traditional Japanese natural stones.
The #6000 grit is ideal as the final stage for most kitchen knives. It refines the edge left by lower grit stones, improves cutting smoothness, and produces an extremely sharp and precise cutting edge.
During sharpening, the stone generates a rich abrasive mud that enhances polishing performance and creates a smooth, controlled sharpening experience. Compared to the #3000 version, the #6000 stone is slightly harder, providing greater precision during finishing work.
The stone is particularly appreciated for its ability to create beautiful kasumi finishes, especially on knives made from Shirogami, Aogami, and other carbon steels. At the same time, it delivers excellent cutting performance and impressive sharpness.
As a Splash & Go whetstone, it requires no soaking before use. Simply add water and begin sharpening. It performs exceptionally well on both carbon and stainless steels.
