The Morihei Hishiboshi Hi 8000 is a finishing stone designed for the final finishing of kitchen knife edges. This stage not only ensures exceptional sharpness, but also an impressive finish.
The Hishiboshi Hi series was designed to replicate the feeling of working with Japanese natural stones (JNS). Thanks to the addition of natural materials and the creation of a rich slurry during sharpening, the stone provides a feel similar to natural stones and allows for a subtle kasumi finish. Working with this stone is smooth, and the feedback from the work surface is particularly clear, even with gentle movements.
The #8000 grit classifies this model as an ultrafine polishing stone. This stone is recommended both as the final stage of sharpening and as preparation for working with a #12000 stone or leather strop.
Splash & Go stone – ready to use without soaking. Simply moisten the surface with water, and for a better start, you can additionally open the working structure with a nagura stone. Do not remove the slurry during work – it contains active abrasive material.
Compared to the Shapton and Naniwa series, Morihei Hi Stones are characterized by greater durability and thickness (25 mm), which translates into their longevity and comfort of everyday use.
