The Japanese Naniwa Super Stone S1-480 sharpening stone has a grit size of 8000. This makes it ideal for finishing cutting edges. The binder used in it is a synthetic resin, manufactured by the brand Naniwa itself. It is an indispensable tool for anyone who wants to achieve the highest quality finish on their blades.
Hard and very durable, Naniwa stones feature highly concentrated abrasive particles. This affects the speed and comfort of sharpening, even with the hardest types of steel, such as ZDP-189 and R-2. Their “Splash & Go” property means that all you need to do to use them is pour water on the stone.
Importantly, after sharpening, Naniwa Super Stones should be dried thoroughly, and then left to dry completely at room temperature. Do not place them on a radiator to speed up the drying process! They should be stored in a dry and dark place.
