The Yu Kurosaki Raijin Gyuto 240 mm Cobalt Special Knife, named after the Japanese god of thunder, features a unique and stunning pattern that resembles rain falling during a storm—perfectly reflecting its name!
Many of Kurosaki's knife lines are made of high-quality stainless steel, and Raijin is no exception. Cobalt Special is a mysterious steel, similar to VG10 but on steroids. This steel has very fine grains, which contributes to an extremely sharp blade while remaining relatively easy to sharpen.
The unusual blade profile is a characteristic feature of this master blacksmith's work, and Raijin does not disappoint in this regard. The cutting edge is very good right from the start. The blade is combined with a solid, octagonal handle made of cherry wood with a red ferrule.
The blade profile has a universal shape that allows for both rocking motions and other cutting styles. Stainless steel makes it easy to keep the knife clean, even in a busy kitchen. However, it is the aesthetics that catch the eye at first glance, and, as always, Yu Kurosaki has risen to the challenge, creating a true work of art.
