The most famous pocket knife from Japan, the Higonokami is as highly regarded in the Land of Cherry Blossom as the highly regarded pocket knife. Higonokami has a special type of mechanism, the so-called "chikiri", which was developed in 1896. A fine, forged lever (the mentioned "chikiri") is used to open the pocket knife. Its daily use is very wide and includes, for example, tempering pencils, opening various types of packaging, in addition to cutting fruit, etc.
The lightweight and highly durable Higonokami pocket knife has a simple design. Its small size and functionality make it perfect as a handy tool for many everyday tasks. To produce the BRASS version, a traditional Japanese steel famous for its high quality is used - blue Aogami #1. Thanks to the hardening process, its hardness reaches the level of 62-63 HRC. Aogami is formed from a carbon steel alloy, which affects the high ease of sharpening, while it should be noted that the knife is not stainless. The blade of the Higonokami pocket knife over time and use becomes covered with a patina, which creates its unique character. It is held in place by friction (this is a replacement for the locking system). To pull the blade out of the pocketknife's handle, simply press down on the iconic "chikiri" lever - using the knife to hold it open with your thumb. Rinsing and drying after each use is the best and required way to care for the Higonokami.
