The Shapton Glass HR has a grit size of #1000 and an abrasive particle size of 14.7 microns. It is a universal stone, designed for regular sharpening as well as for honing cutting edges.
Among the hardest and best in their class, Shapton Glass HR sharpening stones do not require frequent flattening and wear significantly less than competing products. As the most advanced sharpening stones from Shapton, they are perfect for even very hard steels (such as ZDP-189 or R2). Thanks to their “Splash and Go” properties, they do not absorb water. Each Shapton Glass HR stone is therefore ready for immediate use after being moistened with water.
They ensure high efficiency at work because they quickly cut steel and sharpen knives. Shapton Glass HR is a series of ceramic stones with exceptional hardness that remain in excellent condition for a long time without the need for flattening. Precisely selected abrasive and ceramic materials are used to manufacture these stones. Each stone has a marked grit on the bottom, as well as the size of the abrasive particles in microns. The glass glued to the bottom of the white ceramic part of the stone is 5 mm thick. It works well as a base that allows the entire thickness to be used without the risk of breaking the stone.
The recommended Shapton Glass HR stones will meet the expectations of demanding users, and, despite their small thickness, they are more durable than other stones.
