Shapton Lapping Powder is designed for flattening Shapton sharpening stones. The bottle is filled with fine aluminum oxide powder. This powder is used in combination with, for example, the Shapton Naoru Lapping System or a glass lapping plate.
Fine lapping powder is used for flattening of sharpening stones with a grit of 5000 or higher. If you plan to flattening a sharpening stone with a grit below 5000, use a medium-grit lapping powder. After use, thoroughly clean the lapping plate to ensure that no grains remain.
