The Japanese Naniwa Super Stone S1-410 has a grit size of 1000. It uses a special binder – synthetic resin, which is produced by the brand Naniwa itself. It is a basic stone that will be useful in any sharpening tool kit.
The advantage of Naniwa stones is their hardness and durability – they wear slowly. They also have a high concentration of abrasive particles, which makes sharpening an efficient and enjoyable task – even with the hardest steels, such as ZDP-189 or R-2. Another characteristic feature of the Super Stone series is that you only need to wet them with a little water to start sharpening (so-called “Splash & Go”).
After each sharpening, remember to thoroughly dry the Naniwa Super Stone, and let it dry completely at room temperature. Do not place it on a radiator! Once dry, it should be stored in a dry and dark place.
