The coarse Shapton Glass HR #500 stone has one of the lowest grit sizes available in this series. The #500 grit stone can repair damaged knives, as well as nicks and broken tips. It is also useful for quickly removing steel. The size of the abrasive particles in this case is 29.4 microns.

The recommended Shapton ceramic stones in the Glass HR series are currently among the best and hardest sharpening stones available. They wear very slowly and do not require frequent flattening like stones from other brands. The Glass HR series includes the most advanced stones offered by Shapton. They are perfect for hard steels, such as ZDP-189 and R2.

A unique feature of Shapton Glass HR sharpening stones is the “Splash and Go” feature. This means that, unlike most competing stones, they do not absorb water at all. This means they are always ready to use and only need to be moistened with water before use.

The recommended Shapton Glass HR stones ensure very fast work, i.e., they quickly cut steel and sharpen in an extremely effective manner. During the production process, these ceramic stones gain very high hardness. They remain in excellent condition for a long time, so there is no need for flattening. Each stone has a marked grit and abrasive particle size in microns on the bottom. The ceramic, white part of the sharpening stone is glued to the bottom with 5-millimeter-thick glass. It serves as a base, allowing you to use the entire thickness of the stone without risking breaking it.

Shapton Glass HR stones are recommended for the most demanding users. Despite their thinness, they significantly outperform other stones in terms of durability.
