The coarse whetstone, Shapton Kuromaku Professional, with a grit of #120, is ideal for repairing damaged knives, as well as broken tips and various nicks. This stone removes steel very quickly.
The unique Shapton Kuromaku Professional sharpening stones are undoubtedly among the best and hardest sharpening stones available. This is evidenced by the fact that they wear down very slowly and do not require frequent flattening. They are used for hard steels, such as ZDP-189 or R2.
Kuromaku stones are so-called “Splash and Go” stones because, unlike most stones from competing brands, they do not absorb water. Therefore, they do not need to be soaked before use – just moisten them, and they are ready for sharpening. To ensure that they work perfectly and remain convenient to use at all times, it is advisable to soak a new stone for 5 minutes before using it for the first time.
An additional advantage of Kuromaku Professional Stones is that they allow for very fast work – they quickly collect metal, sharpening the knife. The production method used for these ceramic stones ensures their exceptional hardness and durability. They remain in perfect condition for a long time, without the need for flattening. The best abrasive and ceramic materials are used in the production of Kuromaku Professional ceramic stones. They are packed in a box that can be used as a functional holder for the stone during sharpening.
Please note – these stones should not be soaked for more than a few hours.
