The Suehiro Cerax 1000 is a fast and effective ceramic stone with a very high concentration of abrasives. Its 1000 grit makes it the most versatile and universal sharpening stone. We recommend it for both regular knife sharpening and for creating a new cutting edge. Sharpening can be continued on a Cerax 6000, Ouka 3000, or Rika 5000 stone. Cerax 1000 also increases the contrast between hard and soft steel (Hagane and Jigane), giving a Kasumi finish.
Suehiro's Cerax series stones are currently among the best sharpening stones on the market. Cerax stones are medium hardness stones; remember to soak them for 5-10 minutes before sharpening. Thanks to their high concentration of abrasive, these stones are perfect for sharpening even hard powder steels, such as ZDP-189, R2, and HAP-40. The stone is sold in a set with Nagura — a small, harder stone for cleaning, and a rubber holder that stabilizes the tool during sharpening.
Suehiro is a renowned Japanese manufacturer of sharpening stones from Niigata Prefecture in Japan. Suehiro has been producing its stones for over 50 years, maintaining first-class quality. Suehiro sharpening stones are made from the finest materials and to the highest standards — a stone bought 20 years ago will have the same properties as a stone bought today.
