he Higonokami Black 6.5 cm Monosteel SK-5 is a traditional Japanese folding knife based on a design dating back to 1896. Its construction follows the original Higonokami concept, centered on simplicity, reliability, and practical everyday use. The characteristic chikiri lever allows the blade to be opened and stabilized during cutting.
The blade is made from SK-5 high carbon steel, valued for toughness, durability, and ease of sharpening. Heat treated to approximately 60 HRC +/-2, it provides a stable cutting edge suited for regular utility tasks. The monosteel construction ensures uniform structure and predictable performance. A dark blade finish enhances the tool oriented appearance.
Instead of a locking mechanism, the blade is held open by friction and controlled with the thumb placed on the chikiri lever. Lightweight and compact, this knife is well suited for everyday tasks such as opening packages, light cutting, and general utility work.
