he Higonokami Black 7.5 cm Monosteel SK-5 is a traditional Japanese folding knife design originating from the late nineteenth century. Known for its simplicity and reliability, the Higonokami format focuses on practical function and mechanical minimalism. The distinctive chikiri lever allows the blade to be opened and stabilized during use.
The blade is made from SK-5 high carbon steel, valued for durability, toughness, and ease of sharpening. Heat treated to approximately 60 HRC +/-2, it provides a stable edge suitable for everyday utility tasks. The monosteel construction ensures uniform structure and predictable performance, while the dark blade finish emphasizes its tool oriented appearance.
Instead of a locking mechanism, the blade is held open by friction and controlled by thumb pressure on the chikiri. With its slightly longer blade length, this model offers increased versatility while remaining compact and lightweight.
