Enjoying the highest reputation in Japan, the Higonokami pocket knife has as much fame as a Swiss Army knife in Switzerland and around the world. The special "chikiri" mechanism with which the Higonokami is equipped is designed for its opening. It is a small, forged lever that has been in the design of the Japanese knife since its inception in 1896. With its help, you can perform everyday tasks such as opening packages, cutting fruit, sharpening pencils and so on.
The sturdy Higonokami pocket knife is characterized by its lightweight and simple design, and has versatile applications. The BRASS series uses high-grade Aogami #1 steel, which has been hardened to 62-63 HRC. It is a traditional Japanese blue steel that is formed as a carbon steel alloy. Thus, Higonokami pocketknives do not qualify as stainless, while they are very easy to sharpen. The patina that covers the blade over time adds to its unique characteristics. Higonokami does not have a locking system, so friction is used to hold the blade in a secure position. Pressing the "chikiri" lever allows you to remove the blade from the handle, which will remain open as long as you hold it with your thumb. The Higonokami knife should be cared for by thoroughly rinsing and drying it after each use.
