The Japanese Higonokami pocket knife, designed in 1896, is highly regarded in Japan, just as the Swiss Army knife is in its country of origin and around the world. It has a special mechanism, namely a small, forged lever – "chikiri" – which opens the knife. It is perfect for sharpening pencils, opening packaging, cutting fruit and much more.
The Higonokami pocket knife is small, light and distinguished by its simple and durable construction. Its features make it universally applicable. SILVER is a version in which the blade core is made of carbon steel called SK-5. It is surrounded by soft iron cladding. The blades are heat-treated to achieve a hardness of 59 HRC. Over time and with use, a patina appears on the blade, emphasising its unique character. Slide them out of the handle by pressing the iconic "chikiri" lever. Use the pocket knife by pressing the lever held down with your thumb. It has no locking system; it uses friction to keep the blade in a safe position. Rinse and dry the Higonokami to keep it in perfect condition.
