The #12000 grit of the Shapton Kuromaku Professional Stone makes it ideal for finishing and final polishing of the cutting edge. Using this stone each time after sharpening the knife allows you to achieve incredible sharpness. Shapton Kuromaku Professional #12000 also leaves an exceptionally beautiful mirror finish.
Water stones from the Shapton Kuromaku Professional series are undoubtedly among the best on the market. They are also among the hardest sharpening stones, distinguished by the fact that they wear out very little and do not require frequent flattening. They work great with various types of hard steels (e.g., ZDP-189 or R2 steel).
Kuromaku “Splash and Go” stones also have the advantage of absorbing very little water. Unlike most other stones, they do not need to be soaked in water. Before the second and subsequent uses, it is enough to moisten them, while for the first use, it is recommended to soak them for only 5 minutes.
The excellent Kuromaku Professional Ceramic Stones cut steel very quickly, thus ensuring fast sharpening. The manufacturer uses selected ceramic and abrasive materials to produce them, ultimately obtaining exceptionally hard stones that retain their condition for a long time without the need for flattening. All stones are packed in boxes that can be used as a helpful holder for sharpening.
Please note – It is not recommended to soak stones from this series for more than a few hours.
